Cintiq Companion 2 issues different than what others seem to have

Phillip Gerba
Hello, hello,

I've been trying to get Linux to run Linux  after trying a few distros and applying the patch in this thread

I've found that Ubuntu 15.04 worked best, but I still seem to be having problems that are different from everyone else.

First and most importantly there is no functionality with my stylus whatsoever, which most people seem to have gotten working. Oddly enough the touch screen works fairly well, although some of the gestures are a little buggy, mostly the pinching/zoom gesture.  Another odd thing happens when I change the screen orientation changes from vertical to horizontal, the display changes nicely, but the places that I have to touch on the screen to activate anything doesn't change.  In other words the physical places I have to touch the screen is always oriented horizontally even when the display is oriented vertically.

Since I bought this tablet to draw I would by far prefer the problems that everyone else seems to be having with the touch screen an great stylus functionality.  Does anyone have any ideas on what might be the problem, or what I can do to solve them?

-Phillip Gerba

Philip,

There's been some recent work on the Cintiq Companion 2, and I'm getting
ready to submit the necessary patches to get the pen and touchscreen
devices working properly upstream. Hopefully the Linux 4.4 kernel will
include support for it (though that's still many weeks out). Once its
accepted, I'll add the patches to our "input-wacom" repository which
should be a little easier for you to get working.

The issue where touch coordinates aren't rotating along with the screen
sounds like an issue with the desktop environment. It seems to work
properly for me with GNOME 3.16.2 on a fully-updated install of Arch
Linux, but I unfortunately can't quickly investigate how Ubuntu 15.04
behaves. Since Ubuntu pulls some updates from GNOME, its possible this
could be fixed in a future release, but I can't really say for sure...

Now instead of four in the eights place /
you’ve got three, ‘Cause you added one /
(That is to say, eight) to the two, /
But you can’t take seven from three, /
So you look at the sixty-fours....
